Carrot Ranch

Sometimes, even when you’re old and cynical, life can still surprise you.
Or so I recently discovered.

I’m in Scotland, visiting a friend who lives in the undulating hills of Ayrshire, the country of Robert Burns.
He’s a market gardener, and he has, among his acres of quality produce, a carrot ranch.
Funny name, right?
Anyway, as he’s showing me around, he asks if I want to see his latest creation, his pride and joy, which no one else has yet seen.
We go into a walled area where he shows me a carrot.
It is, impossibly, blue.

  3. Yes, what a funny name, carrot ranch. Fun fact, there are different colored carrots one can grow, including blue. This was a fun flash!

Blue carrots for blue blood? It’s a plot by HM King Chuck to outlaw anything red! Oh no, wait, carrots are orange. He’d be in favour of those. Hm, need to think again…
Creative and lovely fun take on the prompt.

Now, now, Jenne, are you suggesting that our democratically elected kingy…
Oh no, he isn’t, is he, just the beneficiary of some outdated, outmoded, anachronistic piece of nonsense.
      Glad you enjoyed the story.

  5. Well, there are blue sweet potatoes, blue lobsters and even blue strawberries so why not blue carrots? I’m sure they’re delightful, especially when being enjoyed by a person with twinkling blue eyes! 😉
