no shadow

cloistered corners © c e ayr

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

no shadow

when you came
you brought no shadow
you brightened
the wintry skies
your light bathed
the cloistered corners
and darkness fled
from your approach

green springtime
became glorious summer
blue skies
and rainbows
with no hint of rain
you gave warmth
to the land
and to my life

ah yes
when you came
you brought no shadow
but
now you’ve gone
that’s all
that remains
