Exhibition – Friday Fictioneers

AnElephantCant claim he’s artistic
And he is way too young to drink sangria
The thing is you see
He only sips herbal tea
That keeps him calm and stops him becoming crankier

Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Where our charming hostess Rochelle exhorts us to create works of art as she serves petits fours and inspirational images.
And AnElephant daubs dismally as usual.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.

Exhibition

What a witch!
I watch her flounce around in triumph, schmoozing with the pretentious arty types, glorying in her own one-woman show.
Lovely to see you, darling, glass of wine, darling, so glad you could come, darling.
Two-faced talentless impostor!
She couldn’t have done this without me.
And the others from the class of course.
Actually I suppose talentless is a bit harsh.
Her pieces are certainly original.
You might even call them unique.
So she does have a talent, it just is not artistic.
But she does know how to extract the human soul and transfer it onto canvas.

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

  1. Oh, I don’t blame the narrator for being a bit harsh, she does sound quite tiring with all the “darling”s! Loved this!

  2. Oh, the world of artists! A colour bunch, for sure.

Truly enjoyed that, the intro had me thinking of a scorned lover then competitor and finally I was just impressed with the ending and conclusion 🙂 Well done AnElephant.

Tres bien! I thought he was just a bitter competitor, but there were darker forces at hand.

I would say that’s a good skill to have, but I can’t think of any particularly areas where such a talent would be useful. Still impressive though.

  15. Dear Elephant,

You’re very light on your feet for a a pachyderm. You go from cute and flirty, all the way to gritty and dirty in one swell foop. Somehow all I ever managed to capture on my canvases was paint.;) Well done story, sir. I’ve come to really look forward to your delightful intros and stories.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  16. Nice voice of your protagonist.

  17. AnElephant does know how to dance with words, and twirl us along with him. Nice!

Great ending, shades of Dorian Gray.
