Torture – Ligo Haibun Challenge

AnElephantCant forget his childhood
When he travels to so many schools
It is never easy to be
Big and grey – you see
To be different is to break the first rule

Torture

The two women sit with twin babies.
Mummy holds one, her sister the other.
All four have identical light blue eyes.
It is an enchanting picture.
Daddy arrives with two more children, a blue-eyed boy and an older, brown-eyed girl.
The boy immediately involves himself with his mother and the baby, and is welcomed with smiles and kisses.
The girl sits beside her aunt, attempting to be part of things, but is excluded from the general joy.
Daddy films the happiness, but carefully ignores the misery.

a young soul is tortured
for a heinous crime
being different

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

And – all along I thought you were pink.

You captured the torture of being different well. Someone is always different.
And – people can be so hurtful to those that are different out of pure ignorance.

  6. Oh my goodness – I am that brown-eyed girl, absolutely. Always the different one, the one on the outside, the observer. Perhaps that’s why I can write now? Out of the lion, came forth sweetness….
Lovely and moving, with more than a tinge of sadness. Well done, Mr Elephant (who definitely can!).

I was the different child with my dad’s side of the family and different with my moms. 🙂 Happens when you are mixed between two different worlds but I kinda like it.
I see AnElephant in the picture 🙂
