Useless – Weekend Writing Prompt

artwork by phil burns

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section

Useless

He is bone idle.
We work together, but I do everything.
Any heavy work to be done, he disappears.
He arrives late, lingers over lunch, and leaves early.
I try reasoning, I try pleading.
Nothing.
Finally I threaten him.
I am sitting on the ground nursing a broken nose.
There is nothing languid about his left hook.

You draw me right into the long-suffering frustration of the progression… to the (anti)climax. And it’s so well underlined by the ‘in yer face’ graphic. Great combination. (I hope you sacked him!)
