Miaow
Rainbow the Cat saunters out the gate on his daily adventure and is promptly splattered by a wildly-veering Volkswagen.
Mrs Myopic tugs the vehicle back into the middle of the road and careens happily homeward, oblivious to other panic-stricken road-users, two- or four-wheeled or pedestrian.
That’s the shopping done for another week, she tells Cloudburst, her exuberantly incontinent Water Spaniel, as she grills sausages for their lunch.
Don’t worry about the puddle, she witters, I’ll mop it up after I tell you my news.
That’s four times this month I’ve squashed that wretched moggie! Nine lives, aye, we’ll see!
Cloudburst! What fun storytelling and lively characters.

What vibrant language you use. This whole piece carries the air of the Mrs Myopic’s cheerful arrogance, well. Now to revel in imagining her comeuppance.

Is Mrs. Myopic any relation to Mr. Magoo? Fun piece.

Laughing.
That sounds distinctly possible, Doug!

Oof. I have met her and her insipid dog! You describe them well. Good luck Rainbow!

Laughing at your view of Cloudburst as ‘insipid’.
I suspect, D, that you are more of a cat person!

Excellent. You certainly take me places as yet unexplored by me!

Thanks, Lindsey, I felt the prompt was quite restrictive, so I rather side-stepped it.
I confess this was an unexpected place for me too!

Great storytelling. I hope Rainbow doesn’t run out of his/her too quickly.

What a wickedly excellent wee story.
Rainbow, the cat, and Cloudburst, the incontinent water spaniel – just superb.
Your imagination is a joy to read.
