Click here to hear the poet read his words:
the colour of the universe
when you think about it
the colour of the universe
is obvious
it must be a complex mix
of many things:
courage and cowardice
kindness and cruelty
pride and humility
certainty and indecision
harmony and conflict
intelligence and stupidity
and some more stupidity
add a sprinkle of warmth in winter
and rain in summer
and it is clear it must be serious
but with humour
robust
but comforting
like a kilt
or whisky
so what colour
could it possibly be
but tartan?
Funny. An interesting response.

Today I caught the end of an interview with one of
The bravest men I know of, Doddy Weir. He was
Asked what would be his legacy, he thought for
A minute and said one word, Tartan 😎

Indeed, what other colour could it be?
Such is the world.
Great poem, great reading.
It left me smiling.

Do you realise, Jenne, that there are some poor folk out there who aren’t Scots?
Life is hard, eh?
