A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend. How you use the prompt is up to you. Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like. Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise. If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section
Click here to hear the author read his words:
Charlie
Charlie’s attitude was like his followers, somewhat cavalier.
He had a rather bizarre idea about his divine right to tell everyone what to do.
This included how to worship.
You could only worship his god, in his way.
Some folk preferred a more flexible approach.
And with less taxes.
In later life Charlie became a dendrophile.
That was before he completely lost his head.
Wow, you are the second or third post for this word that I have read that has included, at least for me, a new vocabulary word. I think Charlie needs to take some lessons about how to be more cavalier, from his followers, he sounds like a control freak.

People who believe in their own divinity tend to be that way, I think.
New words are always fun!

There have since been many good-time Charlies to make up for that one. Enjoyed it.

Dear CE,
It seems we took a similar route this week. I like where you took it. As far as I know my “Charlie” is still leading his sycophants (although not as many as long ago) by the nose.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Fortunately the influence of these charlatans is waning, m’lady, but too many still believe in divine right for my taste.

Becoming a dendrophile was a surprise. I was expecting him to lose his head 🙂

A wee joke, Reena.
After losing a battle he famously hid in an oak tree.
