The Spaceship – Sunday Photo Fiction

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly challenge presented by Susan Spaulding, who has taken over this great weekly prompt from my old friend Al Forbes.
This week’s photo, which leaves me utterly confused, is again provided by the lady herself. And, still pressed for time, I have recycled a story from a different challenge and a different me from 5 or 6 years ago.
The general idea is to write a short story (200 word max) inspired by what you see in the picture (below).

The Spaceship

What is that?
That is my spaceship.
And you travelled how far in it?
About 5 light years.
What is that in real distance?
Maybe 30 trillion miles.
How long did that take you?
SNAP!
Just a second? Wow!
For me yes, but you guys were still crawling about in slime when I left. Space-time continuum, y’know.
It’s kind of a funny shape.
It is the height of cosmic chic back home.
And what do you use for fuel?
Extracted essence of each planet’s most intelligent life form.
But where on earth ….. Oh, that is not a nice smile!

Reminds me of the twisted tales of a few early sci-fi series in the late 1950’s early 1960’s.
