AnElephantCant play with fire
That is one thing he long ago learnt
His Mummy always says
Stay away from the blaze
Or you will get your nice trunk badly burnt
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
With Rochelle as a great beacon in the darkness, superior scribes spark sensational stories.
And AnElephant once again attempts to rise from the ashes.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
The Stake
She always thought she was better than us.
So supercilious, so condescending.
Her name was Joan Dark, so of course we burned her at the stake.
Man, could she scream.
Not just foul words, but vile curses.
Danny hanged himself only three weeks later, lost his mind.
Then Hughie walked off the bridge.
It is a long way down.
He was practically a skeleton by then.
That just leaves me.
The nightmares are awful, but when I waken her screams still fill my head.
I put the pistol in my mouth.
And the screaming stops.
I hear her triumphal laughter.
scary it is!

Dear Elephant you are so cool
And, I am no fool
But I am laughing so hard
That I dropped my dance card
In that darn fire!
My stupid attempt at poetry – I love yours! Nan 🙂

Stole my comment, Thieving One, but I agree. Just looking in my mouth to see if any of the words are still there. Nope. You took them all.
