AnElephantCant miss out on the market
Fresh fruit and veg and scrummy local cheese
Shoes and hats and all sorts
He buys a new pair of shorts
To get some sunshine on his cute knobbly knees
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Presented weekly by stall-holder Rochelle, touting her wares to an eager gathering of bargain-hunters shopping for quality stories.
And a second-hand cart for AnElephant.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
Market Day
So this is what it is all about, is it?
Seems like a lot of fuss about nothing.
Quite tedious, actually, a lot of walking and cars peeping their horns.
After all the talk, I expected something much more interesting.
I mean, generations before us have set off for the great adventure and presumably had so much fun they never came back.
I hope we get there soon, my feet are sore.
And what about these men, with their stupid joke that none of us understand.
What is it that makes them all laugh?
Ah yes, lambs to the slaughter.

Ah, yes, lambs to the slaughter. Interesting ruminations.

Just another day on the farm. Right, Elephant? Nice work.
oh no, so cruel but deliciously done:)
Not so funny, really… Good story, Mr Elephant!
So it is. Wool done.
Poor, naïve little lamb. Is it’s name Anja?
Ah, the innocence! They will understand the joke soon enough ….
Oh Dear, Lambs to the slaughter! Oy. (Inviting you to stop by and leave Feedback. Always Welcome!. )
There’s an old country saying, ‘Sheep know only two things: how to jump fences and how to die.’ I guess there are no fences nearby!
Repeating a joke you don’t understand is never a good idea, but it does make an excellent punch line! Good one!
Elephant, I guess if their wool is worth something they may stay alive a while longer. We know where mutton comes from though. Good story with the lambs point of view. 🙂 —Susan
What is left at the end of the road? Silence of the Lambs…Good story.
Delightful (in a sick sort of way) story. Love it from the sheep’s point of view. Well done
Poor little lambs, all that walking and not a great surprise at the end. I guess ignorance is bliss when you’re a sheep.
Things are going from bad to worse here…
Good one! The ultimate adventure…
I liked the voice you used.
Because he is questionning I think your narrator is a black sheep.;-)
Dear Elephant, Cute story and it is Lambs to the slaughter. Good story and funny! I enjoyed it! Thanks, Nan 🙂
Dear Elephant,
Lambs to the slaughter indeed. I think they’re about to find out that it’s not so much of an adventure. Mutton to it. 😉 Good one.
shalom,
Rochelle
