AnElephantCant wear fancy footwear
And he certainly can’t wear big boots
He has quite big toes
Though not as big as his nose
And he has really ginormously big foots
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Where svelte-shoed Rochelle hosts footwear fanatics from all over the world.
And some men.
And ABarefootedElephant.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
Going Swimmingly
She arrives home to see the dog, nervous, at the poolside.
She wanders across, more curious than concerned.
He is floating face down, unmoving.
Dropping the groceries she takes quick steps and leaps to his rescue.
He is floating face down, unmoving.
He loves to lie still, listening to the rhythm of his heart.
Occasionally he moves his arms very slowly, very gently.
His shadow and the reflection of the ripples remind him of Da Vinci’s Universal Man.
He is at peace.
He sees a shadow and turns his head.
Her boot catches him on the temple, killing him instantly.

Oh. Not the ending I was expecting! Nice surprise.
Wow! that had a kick in it!
Yup!
AnElephant has big feet!
Wasn’t expecting that! Loved your intro poem as well 😀
Thank you, dear lady, AnElephant appreciates when people enjoy his little touches.
Hugs
Oh the vicious irony. Brilliantly done, sir Elephant!
Very kind, Sir Eagle, vicious is cool!
There was rarely as much bad done in this world than by people who thought they were doing good. Thought being central, two thumbs up. Tay.
So true.
Thank you for your visit.
I was so prepared for a happy ending. You totally sucked me in…elephant can’t!
Happy ending?
Have you never been to AnElephant’s blog before?
Big smiles, thank you!
Oh! The perfect irony and a bit macabre!. Very well done!
AnElephant loves macabre!
Thank you!
The made me laugh out loud at the end. I guess that says way too much about me. Well played 🙂
Thank you, sir, glad to appeal to your perhaps slightly warped sense of humour!
AnElephant loves to swim and watch his shadow. And a lady has really awful aim. The man should’ve known.
Well he knows now!
Geez…what a story Elephant! And they talk about crystal shops and your kind…this lady was a tad clumsy!
Oh she meant well, but nobody’s perfect!
Oops!
Splat!
Ouch! Thats sad…
Nice!
Sad is good, nice is better.
Thank you!
Oh, the peaceful contemplation ruined by a boot to the head, leading to eternal peace. Great story!
Glad you enjoyed, AnElephant is happy again.
Damn thats a kick in the head.
Exactly!
Well spotted!
hahaha Whoops. Brilliant
Big banana feet!
AnElephant is a wicked story teller. In Boston, where I grew up, wicked means one thing… but I mean wicked here. I’ve been blindsided. So cruel.
Yay, AnElephant lives for comments like this!
Hugs
Glad to help AnElephant! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_izvAbhExY
I didn’t just snicker aloud, did I?
AnElephant can kill a bus load next week, give you a real belly laugh!
I’d say your bodycount is getting pretty high by now..
Gotta clear away the dead wood, Bjorn!
AnElephantCan be very sneaky! didn’t see that one coming at all. well done 🙂
Sneakiness is AnElephant’s main characteristic!
Thank you.
Yikes! I didn’t see that one coming. 😯
Gotta stay alert in this business, only 100 words to make an impact, and it happened on the 98th!
😀
Ouch! I hope I never get a rescue like this!
Well, just stay out of AnElephant’s pool, Stripey!
I didn’t see that one coming and obviously he didn’t either.
janet
Not till it was too late, for sure!
Thanks, Janet
He’s certainly at peace now then… 🙁 Nicely done.
Well he was before, it is just more permanent now!
Excellent ending my friend!
Glad you like it, Roxi.
Hugs
Some rescue!! Great take on the prompt, loved the twist at the end. Well done
Dee
Thank you, sweet Dee, AnElephant is happy now.
Another Wednesday, another death by boot to the temple. These things happen far too often. Nicely told.
Thanks, Adam, sorry to be so predictable.
Ouch! Quite a shocking story twist!
AnElephant is happy to shock!
C’est trop aimer quand on en meurt. well done sir!
Merci, haut cinq, UnElephant est content.
Moral of the story-don’t lie around doing nothing-peacefully,lol!A great twist in the story-though my wicked, scheming mind wonders if that kick was an accident? 😉
Thank you for your evil thought!
😀
*sigh…..picks up pen and tally book*
Heh, heh, heh!
No good deed goes unpunished… There is no recovery from this one for either of them.
Ugghh. Good story. Very well told.
Gives me a sinking feeling though 🙁
Merci, et attention les pieds!
The dark irony of this makes me laugh. Great story; It is so quintessentially you (that’s a compliment 😉 ).
Happy to entertain, David, and thank you.
Dear Elephant,
Not much a rescue I’d say. But a good story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you, Rochelle, glad you liked it.
A Femme fatale dear Sir elephant, you cannot take a trick dear sir, you are either dishing out the finality to some unsuspecting one or having it done to you. Great piece by the way. enjoyed it….
Why, Sir ST2, do you assume that ‘he’ refers to AnElephant?
Could be a dodgy Aussie from the Hunter Valley!
Oh well in that case, I’d best shut up……keep looking behind me just in case, bloody Scots……
AnElephant chortles merrily now!
