AnElephantCant explain his thought process
Or justify his strange outpouring of words
Whether feathered or not
Some folk can lose the plot
So this picture is not just for the birds
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Presented weekly by the high-flying Rochelle, this is a pretty random collection of short stories from some very talented writers and AnElephant.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
Squawk
He does not understand why she is so good to him.
A combination of circumstances has contrived to make him a long-term house-guest.
He walks the dog, buys the morning croissants and takes her out for dinner every week.
She provides a house with a pool, ten minutes from the Mediterranean beaches he adores.
She provides fresh fruit and vegetable lunches and cordon bleu dinners daily.
And they are friends, just that.
He tells her he has arranged an apartment to coincide with the arrival of a lady friend from across the globe.
She cuts his throat as he sleeps.

Wow, you got right to the point of it–with a knife! LOL
Well, I KNEW it was all just too good to be true, but you really did hit me with it before I was ready. Good job!
Sorry but the 100 words were up!
Had to do it then!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed.
Wow, did he misjudge their relationship! At least had very different ideas of it than she did. I like the last line: simple and brutal. It says it all.
Thanks, Dave, glad you liked it.
This was fantastic. Reminds me of the woman that saved the snake. And it bit her anyway.
Thank you for the very kind words, glad you enjoyed.
What if the “lady friend” was just a friend? They’re never just a friend, are they? Better to end it quick and painless. Fantastic surprise!
Gosh, you are cynical for such a nice lady!
Some people are friends, no more, no less, and it is wonderful.
Glad it surprised you.
OMG! An elephant shocked the shit out of me there!
Language, old chap, this is a family friendly blog!
But glad it got to you.
He was, among other things, stupid.

A bit harsh there, Scott, don’t you think he was maybe just not very aware?
Thanks for dropping by again.
Goodness AnElephant! I can’t stop laughing!
Great set up and twisty end as usual.
Thought you might enjoy this one!
Glad I got out in time!!!
Hugs
Shocker! I was wondering where the battle was going to come out.
Hi Joseph, glad it got a reaction!
Cheers
🙂
Whoa! That was totally unexpected – and funny in a gruesome way. Well done – although I am still trying to figure out the bird angle…
Happy to surprise, glad you got a chuckle.
What birds??????
Sorry, wee joke …
Damn! Totally caught me off guard, but should have seen it coming… users, using each other.
Wow, the cynicism is rife today for sure!
Glad it got you!
I wonder if he would have done the same thing to her had he thought of it first. (Birds of a feather flock together?) Such an excellent little morsel of murder with my morning coffee!
Oh no, he is/was a nice chap!
Glad you enjoyed.
Dear AEC,
Let that be a lesson to him. Killer story.
Aloha,
Doug
Dear Doug
A lesson not easily forgotten, old bean!
Glad you liked.
Oh what jealousy will do… when he thought “just friends,” sounds like she thought it was a step to something more than friends. Guess she could’ve said something over those cordon bleu dinners… might’ve avoided a nasty mess to clean up in the end.
Ah well, not to worry, worse things happen at sea, as they say.
And she probably has good detergents.
Dear Elephant,
Poison in his cordon bleu would’ve been tidier. 😉 So much for that platonic relationship. Well done. Good twist.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Tidier, Rochelle, but maybe much less satisfying.
But AnElephant bows to your superior knowledge in these matters!
Glad you enjoyed
Hugs
I case of misreading the situation, got to be careful who you invite to visit!!
And who you stay with too!
Good to see you here again!
A bit extreme …. NO 😉
Excellent.
Thank you, sir.
One man’s extreme is another lady’s just deserts.
🙂
Oh my!
I don’t think “Just friends” exists in that type of relationship. There is always one that wants more.
Oh no, RoSy, even you are getting cynical!
AnElephant is going to stop doing funnies!
Touche!!! 🙂
Ouch!!!!!
Sorry! Gut reaction to side with my gender… 🙂
Oh my…..not good at all
Wow, Anja, not much gets past you, does it?
However, from her point of view, quick trip to laundrette and start again, perhaps?
hahahaha you are just feisty tonight I see. Maybe I should change my observation to “he had it coming…” ha. Maybe she could start a new business…
Yes, love can be a messy business.
Yes, but sheets can be cleaned, y’know…
*snicker*
Ah, never trust anyone who claims they are “just friends!” 🙂
Gosh, AnElephant thought that Dawn (below) was cynical, but boy oh boy!!!!
Ha ha! No, I only meant that “just friends” is rarely “just friends.” Personally, I preferred to marry my “just friend,” but I suppose not every lady is so lucky… 😉
hmmmmmmmm! 🙂 xo
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
Hi, Penny………
A perfectly understandable reaction. I’ve had to do that three times now — it’s a bloody mess to clean up, though.
Ah, so you are a bit of a cook, are you?
Interesting….
And on to find someone who will appreciate her generosity a little more.
Gosh, Dawn, aren’t you just the cynical one!
Holy crap, that’s the first time ever i have been accused of that!
I will work on it.
Yeah, guess she moved on, took it kind of well really, ‘part from that little slip-up there…
Yeah, well, women, gotta just love those little foibles ….
The misunderstanding on his part may not exactly warrant that response on hers, although it makes good story.
janet
Thanks, Janet, that was kinda the point of the exercise!
Wow! I really didn’t see that coming. Such an old tale (man thinks they’re friends / woman thinks they’re more than that), but beautifully written
AnElephant very much appreciates your kind words.
Although he thinks that it can work both ways.
Guess she wanted more.
Pound of flesh, ya think, Al?
I think it may have been
This week will be the bloodiest for ages in FF… to be just friends can be quite the opposite.
Come on, Bjorn, what’s a little bit of a throat slash between chums?
Well that escalated quickly. Sounds to me like just friends they are not.
AnElephant agrees that a cut throat is a bit of a damper on a friendship.
Well that’s just downright unreasonable. 🙂 Nice twist.
Well, AnElephant is sure that the chap in the tale agrees!
Glad you enjoyed little tweak!
