in dreams

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

in dreams

you’re mine…

when you smile
rain clouds flee in dark shame
to stumble in tears
over distant oceans

when you touch my skin
my heart swells
with the valour of centuries
of Pictish – or painted – warriors
who inhabit my blood

when you breathe on my eyes
I hear the tell-tale rattle
of ancient dust
escaping the tide of eternity

when you are
so am I

… in beautiful dreams

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

  3. This gave me goosebumps and anyone who doesn’t listen to the recording is really missing out on something wondrous!

    when you are
    so am I
Such rich and powerfully expressed images of love’s elemental, healing force.
And the knife – hinted at in the title – delivered in three simple words at the end.
    This is great.
