open arms

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

open arms

the first time you left
I waited
and when you came back
I opened my arms
and said
I love you

and every time
since then
when you’ve gone
without a word
and returned
with no explanation
I’ve opened my arms
and said
I love you

the last time
while you were away
I thought about us
and how I could change things
but when you came back
I opened my arms
and said
I love you

because
maybe this time
you’ll stay

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

I tried to think of an excuse
For a visit to your blog
Alas alack ’twas of no use
Only wanted to hear the monologue

Break my heart, why don’t you!
    And then I got angry.
    And then…
    Thought-provoking – or emotion-provoking wee poem.
    It’s good.
