women are crazy

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

women are crazy

a wise man once told me
that all women are crazy
and when I raised an eyebrow
he shrugged and said
you’ll see

a friend says
that ladies are different
from us mere men
and when I reply
vive la différence
he grins and says
you’ll see

now I’m not smart enough
to judge
whether either
or even both
of these statements
are true

but I had a mother
and a wife
I have a daughter
female friends
and the occasional romantic attachment
so I have loved
a few of the fairer sex

but never yet met one
I understood

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

Perhaps then love is just our imagined understanding of each other. This made me smile. Nice wee meander of thoughts.

…and it all goes to prove what women say about men:
‘They’re different, they just don’t get it.’
‘We need to make allowances for them.’
Your delightfully bewildered poem made me smile.
    Love it.
