Tears on Glass
Whenever your beloved Emmy departed on a trip, you graciously tolerated my presence in your home.
But you clearly disapproved of my physical condition, walking me four times each day.
Being wakened by a huge hairy head breathing on my face was an unforgettable experience.
Many times.
To your obvious amusement.
I know you were old and in pain.
I understand you were a dog, with a shorter lifespan, and this is the natural order of things.
I know you lived a full life, and that it was your time to go.
None of this stops the tears.
Adieu, mon ami.

Loss is heartbreaking, farewell to a faithfully companion is never easy. For a child, the loss of a favourite toy may seem like the end of the world – but it is a life lesson for future grief.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, My lab Hovis had to be put down a couple of years back, he was 15 1/2 and was my work colleague as well as my mate, sad times but a beautiful take.
Just as an aside, I don’t suppose you can see mine can you? I’m 29 this week, I had to edit it because some of my intro was really small font, and its gone greyed out. The font remains the same too, (a lesser known Led Zeppelin album!)

I’ve solved the 29 issue. I was position number 29. I’ve only been in the top 10 once on Friday Fictioneers. It appears to me at 9am in a Wednesday morning and I think about what I can write when I’m at work, by the time I’m ready tons have written their pieces. I quite like to see if I can beat Dale Roberson, not sure why, no one seems to care much! Iain Kelly gets the top spot often, but I find it fascinating that Rochelle doesn’t always come first. I wonder if anyone else thinks this way?

Ah that position 29, not the one in the Kama Sutra, I was momentarily impressed! It’s all about time zones, obviously, so the Scots, being an advanced nation, often fill 3 of the top 4 or 5 slots. And Rochelle is always first, just not on the board, because she is in dodo-land at what I have taught her is numpty o’clock. I would be cautious about beating Dale Roberson (sic) as she is a toothless Amazonian Canuck who would break both your arms without blinking. As for your last question, I suspect that most of us have weightier issues on our minds, like whether to have strawberry jam or raspberry jam on our baguette this morning. But who knows…

Oh, I’m so sorry. We had a German Shepherd growing up. She was my sister’s dog, really, but we all loved her. I remember the absolute heartbreak when the pooch had to be put down – she’d fought coyote at night, to protect our livestock, and she was too wounded to live on.
Dogs can be heroes and caregivers and family.
I’m so sorry for your loss!

It does. Our Bilbo died three years ago and I wrote three posts about losing him about a month ago. He will always be with us.
