La Cornemuse – Weekend Writing Prompt

Bagpipes in Glasgow and Edinburgh

A word prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.  How you use the prompt is up to you.  Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge below – there are no prizes – it’s not a competition but rather a fun writing exercise.  If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link to it in Sammi’s Comment Section Click here to hear the author read his words:

La Cornemuse

Only bagpipes can truly do justice to a great tune.

But don’t take my word for it:

  1. The few times I have heard bagpipes, I have gotten the chills. Such a sound, hard to even describe.

  3. This is fabulous!
Also, one of my favorite bagpipe performances is the total overboard overkill beyond all the beyond of Andre Rieu’s all out show in Scotland some years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GD-5mRyaJw

Thank you, Na’ama, glad you enjoyed.
Mr Rieu’s performances often include mass bagpipes to great effect, as in your link, which was in fact in the Netherlands.
I am always amazed when someone says they don’t like bagpipes, it’s like saying they don’t like the saxophone or violin, it just makes no sense to me.
For a more understated approach than Mr Rieu’s you might enjoy this:

      • Oh! I thought it was in Scotland! Maybe there was another one – as you say – in a show in Scotland and I mixed the videos. In any event, yeah, he’s a master of schmoozing and making merry with the crowd.
And — yes, I LOVE this clip! Had seen it before and was delighted to see it again. 🙂
