AnElephant worships the wondrous Dr Seuss

AnElephant again tries this great weekly challenge hosted by his friend Al.
Please take a moment to check out this page to see some superb interpretations of the Japanese Haibun, a literary form which explores the relationship between the human experience and nature.
For this week’s challenge AnElephant pays homage to the wise words of an extraordinary man, who said:
Today you are you!
That is truer than true!
There is no one alive who is you-er than you!
~ Dr Seuss

And yet …..

The Turtle-Necked Sea Turtle and the Flaming Herring

The Turtle-Necked Sea Turtle and the Flaming Herring

Christmas in the Village

The outfit is in there.
His friend points, grinning at him.
He suddenly remembers that this guy is the world’s best salesman and shakes his head in resignation.
Phil is Sales Director in the company he owns, and he has always been aware of how good he is at his job.
But this is unbelievable.
He goes into the room and puts on the outfit to the great glee of Phil’s wife Helen.
Have a cushion, she laughs, but I am not sure you need it!
He adores her, the sister he never had, so he laughs along.
She gives him a hug, whispers a thank you, and leads him out.
There is a sharp intake of maybe fifty or sixty breaths in the large hall, then total silence.
He pauses, uncertain.
Then a little voice squeaks ‘Santa’!
A hubbub ensues.
He is considered hard-nosed, even aggressive, in his highly competitive business field, but his heart melts.
Ho ho ho, he says.
Then sits down, waiting for the first child to clamber onto his knee, and to whisper a special wish.

who we really are
is not always clear
to innocent eyes

I think this is such a wonderful Haibun. You definitely show that even though he is he-er than he, that he also has a different side that he is someone else to the kids at this time.

Glad you like the prompt. Thank Anja, she told me that it was his birthday this Sunday 🙂
