AnElephantCant deny he gets excited
Doing his short story for Friday Fictioneers
But he has to hurry
And it is always a worry
In case he runs out of ideas
But he bashed out another one this week
He hopes he doesn’t let the side down
He has not got much style
Just wants to raise a wee smile
And not make his new friends here all frown
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on a picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
Home is where the heart is
So what do you think, darling, our first home.
It is perfect, I love it!
I know it is small, and there is still some work to be done, but …
If you can get the kitchen done the way I want it, I will do the living room
And maybe I can make a start on a nursery?
Ha, let’s not get carried away just yet.
I know, but we have that lovely little garden where I can grow roses, and the little white picket fence, reminds me of Tom Sawyer….
Yes, and just out the back, a perfect place for your mother.

What has mother done now?
Love your intro and your story. Great last line – left me laughing.
AnElephant is happy
He isn’t so daft
At least he made
Sarah Ann laugh
Mother in laws… those exist that need a place like that, but I guess it won’t work anyway..
Thanks, Bjorn, yes, there are some who get what they deserve…..
Nice that she can see such possibilities. But I wonder what he has in mind for his mother-in-law? Interesting.
Thanks, Shirley, tune in next week to find out!
I enjoyed this!
So happy!
I loved that ending. I can see people took it different ways, but I took it as comedic, sticking the battleaxe of a mother-in-law in the rundown barn. Please correct me if I’m way off on the tone.
AnElephantCant correct anyone, David.
Thanks for your kind words.
Anelephant sure can write. love how the ending could be anything the reader wants it to be ^^ the dialog seems real. great job
ps your intro made me smile ^^
So happy you enjoyed the different elements.
AnElephant tries to be entertaining.
sad that the mom is going to be thrown to the barn..thought they were a nice couple excited about this place:) a different twist indeed.
Well, dear lady, it all depends …..
A good twist
mom-in-law in the barn
who could resist!
Thanks Bill

I assume you have lots of tricks in your trunk 🙂
Is Mom going to end up like the abusive husbands and ex boyfriends, maybe even a dad in the other Friday fictioneer tales this week; vegetable garden fertilizer?
That is your choice, dear lady, just think of your own mum-in-law!
Aww…rest her soul, I loved her dearly.
OK, I’m sure Mom’s still alive but if I want to read this not as darkly, she could be dead and that would be where they’ll bury the ashes from her cremation. So you let us have it either way, even though I suspect where your thoughts were headed. 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
janet
Thank you, Janet.
It is deliberately left to the reader to interpret according to their own in-laws!
Mine are unfortunately already dead, so I’ll just enjoy the hanging ending. Those are always good.
I suspect that’s not a Granny flat you’re talking about there… Nice one.
Ah, you have gone to the dark place – excellent!
OMG! A road map to unending heartaches in 100 words. Super!
Merci, cherie, les belles-meres sont pareilles peu importe ou, n’est-ce pas?
Sauf moi. Je suis la belle-mere qui ne se mele de rien!
Ha! That’s exactly the sort of thing my hubby would say… 😉
Well, sons-in-law and mums-in-law the world over ……
Poor mom.
Could be it is what she deserves.
