natural empathy

the day gives up her brightness
the sleepy sun smiles behind the hill
the tree shows off his profile
but the north wind decides to chill

the brisk waves are teased by gull wings
as they dance towards the lazy shore
and pebbles play their music
they rock n roll for evermore

the headland reaches out to restless sea
as though to stretch his muscles
a dry leaf tumbles through a gap
whispers and gently rustles

the rosy dusk now paints the sky
in the colour of my heart
pink and purple turn to black
now forever we’re apart

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

    Beautiful images.

  2. Beautifully written! Loved the descriptive detail. I also really enjoyed these lines: “and pebbles play their music / they rock n roll for evermore”

  3. A beauty, C.E., and fits the graphic perfectly. I loved the line “and pebbles play their music they rock n roll for evermore’; fabulous imagery. Well done, amico mio! 💫

What a lovely atmospheric photo to go with your words.
You paint such an intricate and haunting word picture as the day darkens into the sadness.
    Beautiful – and sore.
