How Very Scottish

On yonder hill there stood a coo
It must have went, it’s no there noo…

Ah, yes, the Scots…
A creative, inventive people.
Romantic, poetic, but above all pragmatic.
And persistent.
Last night we won at rugby in Paris.
First time since 1999.
With the game’s last play.

About ceayr

A Scot who has discovered peace in a small town he calls Medville on the Côte Vermeille, C.E. Ayr has spent a large part of his life in the West of Scotland and a large part elsewhere. His first job was selling programmes at his local football club and he has since tried 73 other career paths, the longest being in IT, with varying degrees of success. He is somewhat nomadic, fairly irresponsible and, according to his darling daughter, a bit random. So, nobody’s perfect.

  3. Dear CE,

I know how you feel. Last year our hometown football team won the Superbowl for the first time in 50 years. Congrats on a good story, too.

    Shalom,

An amazing game. The most Scottish thing about it is we manage to beat England and France away from home, thrash Italy, narrowly lose the other two games by a whisker – and still manage to only finish fifth in the table! 🙂

A fine victory, and a long time coomin’ (pardon my French)!

  7. Good job they don’t play in kilts! Well done to your lot, be careful not to upset your neighbours!

…and Phil B has excelled himself.

    Oh, that was some game!
And this is a braw tribute to it – and to the people.
Love the ‘coo on the hill’, and the artwork is brilliant.
