Bridges
I build bridges.
I go where I’m needed, create my masterpiece, and move on.
On a visit to my home town I met a wonderful woman.
We married, and had children.
She was loyal and loving, but eventually life as a nomad just wearied her.
I left her, kept moving.
Other women came and went.
Now that I’m old and alone I realise the truth.
I burn bridges.

This is some deep stuff. Really good.
Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated.
No going back when you’ve burned the bridges.
Such a poignant telling, such a sad realization. Well done.
I think most of us have had moments like this, when we realise we have done something really dumb.
Thank you for your thoughts.
Beautifully done, Sir!
Thank you, Dale
this is beautiful and sad. thanks.
Thank you, Tina, you are very kind
Hopefully not a bridge too far. This is a bit close to home for me!
Don’t you think, Keith, that anyone who has never made a dumb decision has never really lived? If you try to do things you are bound to make some mistakes, no?
I entirely agree with you.
Dear CE,
This has got to be one of your utmost best pieces! We make the choices and ultimately, have to live with them, don’t we?
Shalom and good health,
Rochelle
Indeed, m’lady, those of us who are wanderers cross many bridges, some we burn, others carry us ever onward.
Ooh, that last line! This is so sad, to reach the end of you’re life and realise that all along you’ve run away from relationships and commitment, and ultimately made yourself lonely. Fabulous, C
Praise from Caesar!
Thank you, Lynn, much appreciated
Powerful, Ceayr!
Thank you, Na’ama
🙂
The consequences of life’s choices are not always pleasant. Nicely done, sir.
Thank you, Jo, we can’t get them all right, can we…
