Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Sultry seasonal storyteller Rochelle throws a party for festive fablers.
And AnElephant offers one extra word as a gift.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).

Bah Humbug
I hate Christmas.
Everybody goes crazy.
The shops are packed with people buying presents they can’t afford for people who don’t want them.
Often for people they don’t like, who can’t stand them.
It makes no sense.
The streets and the houses are awash with nasty flashing lights.
For a festive feel, they say.
Actually they are just burning up the planet’s resources faster than usual.
And those awful Santa songs.
He is coming to town, kissing Mommy, or asking that stupid reindeer to guide his sleigh tonight.
But I have work to do.
Those presents don’t take themselves down chimneys.
Santa’s peeved because he has to wear leather pants … sliding down those TV antennas are VERY cold! Popped a good one, Elephant!
Dear Elephant, Bah Humbug indeed. Perhaps Santa needs Prune Juice next to the cookies on the hearth. But delightful Elephant, I hope you have a Merry Christmas anyway. Great story, you are so clever! Nan 🙂

Oh no – a grumpy Santa! I can’t stand it. He has to be jolly. Someone has to be jolly at this time of year. Funny story.

Great stuff – I frequently think Christmas would benefit if Hallmark and Shopping centres were nuked from orbit (its the only way to be sure), leaving us with the more important business of reconnecting with our friends and families.

How often I’ve heard those same words … but then that ending (so enchanting) who would have thought that even Santa could become irritated by the commercialization of Christmas! Bravo!

Nice knowing I’m not the only Bah-humbug in my phylum. I think we are a growing breed….wish this time of year could feel like Bedford Falls in Its a Wonderful Life!

Indeed.. I can very well understand that Santa is particularly tired of the endless repetitions of senseless waste making him liable.. I would sue if I was Santa..
