AnElephantCant always write a new rhyme
Sometimes he can’t write anything useful at all
Do you think he is wrong
To steal words from a song
When the bottles are not green and they do not hang on a wall
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Chief cook and bottle washer Rochelle invites us to let the genie of genius out of the bottle to create a story in 100 words.
And AnElephant tries to avoid the broken glass.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
Wine Cellar
I am understandably nervous when I meet him for the first time.
He is the Master of his art, and his wine cellar houses the greatest collection in Provence, perhaps in France.
He is surprisingly approachable and, with very few conditions, takes me as his apprentice.
My studies are more varied than I anticipated, encompassing everything from anthropology and theology through anatomy and biology to viticulture and oenology.
It is only after years of patient application that he at last leads me down the dark steps to view the end product.
I gaze awestruck at thousands of bottled human souls.

Creepy but interesting story. You write very well.
Ouf! eerie but thought provoking alright…great write!
Dear Elephant, Love the last line and the bottles of human souls – how interesting you make it! Great story – but creepy!
Nan 🙂
Dear Elephant. That was awesome love the last two words. Creepy good.
Great lead up to a whole vineyard of evil. Bravo.
Dear Elephant,
Through all the ologies to captured souls. Frighteningly good.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Dear AEC,
Very well crafted. I can’t help thinking that some of those bottles will taste very bitter when opened. Well done.
Aloha,
Doug
Loved the darkness in this!
Mine is dark, too!

This is scary!
A soul man…

Simply a delicious tale..âme en bouteille..amazing
Good job with the end-twist!
Nice twist and overall good story.
Tu sais combien de fois j’ai deviné la fin de tes histoires? Exactement aucune!
La fin est toujours inattendue… parce que la narration est impeccable.
Comme ici.
Super ending!

Hope he doesn’t accidentally drop a bottle. I don’t think the Master would be very happy with him.
“Surprisingly approachable”…be warned!
Ah.. that was a great twist.. That sounds like somewhere for dr Faust to search his immortality..
Wow – that’s a killer last line. Wonderful.
