AnElephantCant tell you how much fun he has
Each week with Friday Fictioneers
So he gives Rochelle
Who runs it so well
A big thank you and three hearty cheers
The idea of Friday Fictioneers is to write a very short story (100 words) based on a picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
The Job
Look at the size of that place!
Wait till you see inside. Original Old Masters, silver and gold candlesticks, worth a fortune!
This‘ll be easily the biggest job we’ve ever done.
Aye, and it’s a one-off. The old boy’s half-crazy, never leaves, just prowls about with a shotgun.
He’s not here, is he?
No, I told you, he’s away to that funeral, won’t be back till near dark.
We’ll be legends! Nobody in our game has ever tackled anything this dangerous before.
Let’s go get rich then.
Do you really think one day is enough to clean all those windows?

This is GOOD! Love your sense of humor with that twist ending!
Very fun twist and great characters. A delightful read all around. Thanks!
Fantastic. Sending us off on that wild goose chase like that, honestly!
Loved it.
Would sure require a lot of detergent 😉
Love the comical twist – interesting ideas that kept my mind involved. I thought job in hotel, then ‘the job’, imaginative take on the image, something beyond the spooky, gothic and dark that many of us have written (including myself). Then I remembered whose blog I was on and braced myself for a final wonderful twist!
I would hate to have to clean those windows!
Brilliant.
So happy you got sucked into it!
Thank you very much for all your kind words.
Yes it was a good twist at the end.
AnElephantCant resist a wee twist!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Lol, too funny. I was already thinking wow this picture really made everyone think of love and death and crime of what I read so far, so you really surprised me with that twist. Like the old joke of
the vindow viper.
Glad you got a laugh!
And thank you for your visit.
LOL, only window washers? I was expecting something more sinister 🙂
Sinister? What on earth made you think that?
Happy to entertain, Carrie, thanks for commenting.
Nice twist, totally unexpected, but look at the windows in that place! Had no idea there was so much money in window washing!
AnElephantCant wash windows, the ladders don’t support him!
Thanks for dropping by, Perry.
Had me, had me, had me – confound you – you had me!
Nicely done =)
Did AnElephant nearly have you there?
Thanks a lot, Troy, glad you liked it.
The WHOLE flippin’ while! Confound you – you had me!
Hehe I meant to leave a comment when I first read your story 🙂 the last line was absolutely funny. I doubt a day will help them get the job done. Nice one.
Glad you liked it enough to come back.
Cheers!
Haha! Another clever misdirection. You’re really good at this. Your stories are a joy to read.
AnElephant tries his humble best.
Thank you for your very kind words.
Wonderful non-crime story! Terrific surprise at the end…well done!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jan, and no bodies this time!
Love the enthusiasm!
Glad it appealed!
Thank you.
Fab twist – and what a lot of windows! If only they had an elephant to squirt water at them…
AnElephantCant wash windows, haven’t you seen today’s blog!
Thank you for visiting.
I hadn’t. But I have now! No window-washing, seems a shame not to use your assets but I get the sentiment 🙂
Funny punch line…you got me!!!!
Yay! That was the intention, glad you liked it!
This was relly very good 🙂
Hi Bjorn, thanks for visiting, glad you enjoyed it!
I wonder who set up the one day limit on the windows?

Ha ha! Wonderful Elephant! 😀
AnElephant is happy he made you laugh!
Thank you.
A neat set up to lead our nose (or trunk) one way, then surprise us at the end. What a fun building to wash windows!
AnElephantCant be predictable!
Thanks for visiting.

Hahaha… Loved it… Naturally, I was expecting a robbery… Nearly lost my tea to the keyboard..! 🙂

AnElephantCant always be eloquent.
But he tries!
Thanks, Bill.

since you’re an elophent
Delightful twist! You led us down a merry path, only to shove us down another lol. Nice.
Very glad you enjoyed.
And thanks for taking the time to comment.
Made me laugh!
Then AnElephant is happy!
Thank you for visiting.
This had guilty written all over it until the last line.
🙂
AnElephantCant make it too obvious!
Thanks, RoSy.
Terrific. I burst out laughing. You are really great at this. Bravissime.
Si tu ris, je suis content.

Hahahahahahaha! Great! Thanks, Elephant!
Amused, were you?
So happy, you are welcome!
Lol. Nuff said!
Ta. Ditto.
From the title to the last line, A job well done. As always anelephantcant help but show his talent with the written word! 🙂
AnElephantCant claim to have talent, but he is happy to entertain Penny.
Tricky. I expected a bang bang ending! Very good switch at the last minute.
AnElephantCant do bang bang.
He doesn’t like loud noises.
But he does like praise.
Thank you!
This was fun! And believable – all the way to the end 🙂
AnElephantCant tell a lie!
It has to be at least nearly believable.
I would never sign up for such a daunting task, forget voluntarily!
Quite a twist you got there! Well done! 🙂
It’s a job, isn’t it?
But glad you enjoyed.
Got me! Well done.
janet
Thank you!
Gotted is good!
AnElephant writes again for Friday Fictioneers
I love the way you told the story
You created some fun
Had us on the run
Thinking it was another form of glory
AnElephantCant do rhymes
When he writes fictional stuff
Why do you suppose
He answers in prose
He is already out of puff
There are people round here who will clean your windows without your permission and then come knocking for money… I don’t think they’ll get very far with your house owner. Nicely done.
Thank you.
A shotgun in the right hands seems to be a useful deterrent!
anelephantcan write so well
anshreyank has enjoyed this very much ! 🙂
AnElephant is very happy to receive your compliment and is delighted you enjoyed.
Haha! Great stuff – what a last line!
Happy to amuse!
It sounds like they have very different ideas. Dangerous job indeed. 🙂
High buildings, a few falls this week already ……
That was so good. I was expecting them to be breaking in to the house. But, they vere just vindow washers 🙂
They vere just vindov vashers!
AnElephant vishes he had vought ov that!
Thank you for dropping by!
Dear Elephant,
I’m glad I wasn’t drinking my coffee when I read that last line. I would’ve spewed! Funny and totally unexpected. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Hmm, nearly got splashed here!
Glad it amused.
