I lied

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

I lied

I lied to you
the first time we met
to protect myself
because my heart was imprisoned
wretchedly
far across the sea
and I found you
dangerously attractive

I lied to you
when we met again
to protect myself
because my heart was shattered
brutally
from across the sea
and I found you
painfully attractive

and then
we met yesterday
and I was free
to speak the truth
and I found you
excitingly attractive
but you were with him
hand in hand
and so once again
I lied to you

So sad. How we stop ourselves because of various reasons only to be let down by a change of fate. Touching. 🙂
