Delivery Man
Who is it?
The words crackle from the speaker.
I pause, carefully put down the parcel.
This is my first day in my new job, and my first delivery.
It is probably my last chance to make something of my life.
I have made so many mistakes in the past, and I know she is running out of patience.
She loves me, and I can’t imagine life without her.
I need to get it right this time.
For her sake.
I take a deep breath.
Delivery, I lie, needs a signature.
And, for the umpteenth time, I check my weapon.

My heart goes out to him. He’s doing this for her sake. I guess he believe that it’s worth it and it’s either this or a future without her.

I was almost beginning to warm to him. And in a way, I’m still a bit tepid. I like a murderer who is at least trying to please somebody, if not his victim.
