The Three Sons
James Townhead has three fine sons.
As each in turn leaves home for university, James tells him that he will support him throughout his education.
He asks in return that, as a gesture of respect, each will put £1,000 into his coffin when the time comes.
Many years later the three men gather at James’ funeral.
Alone with the coffin, they look at each other, and nod.
Keith, an eminent surgeon, takes £1,000 from his wallet and lays it on his father’s chest.
Robin, brushing away a tear, follows his brother’s example.
Barry, a lawyer, steps to the coffin.
He scrawls a cheque for £3,000, tosses it in, and lifts the £2,000 in cash.

What is black and tan and looks good on a lawyer?
A Doberman.

I was uninspired by the prompt and my mood.
I am sure, m’lady, there is a version for every currency on earth, including Scots bawbees.
