The Corridor – Sunday Photo Fiction

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly challenge now presented by Susan Spaulding, who has taken over this great weekly prompt from my old friend Al Forbes.
And this week’s intriguing photo is by the lady herself.
The idea is to write a short story (200 word max) inspired by what you see in the picture (below).

The Corridor

Well, this is not at all what I expected.
Although, if I am being honest, I have never really given it much thought.
Hah, being honest, that’s a good one, something else I don’t think about too often.
I’m not what you’d call a model citizen, done a few dodgy things in my time.
And talking about dodgy, it would have been a good idea to sidestep that truck.
But I was a bit preoccupied with all those cops waving guns and shouting at me.
Stuff like ‘Stop or I’ll shoot!’
I wonder how often that line works?
Anyway, I am now ambling along this kinda featureless corridor, not sure where I’m heading.
There are a couple of other guys here, and a cute lady in a short dress, very nice, but no one has spoken to me.
It’s as if they’ve got other things on their minds!
It seems to be getting warmer now, I suppose I should have expected that.
Oh, it seems like I have arrived.
Guess what, Satan is here to meet me.
And yes, he does have horns and a tail.
Man, this is just too clichéd!
Uh oh, he doesn’t seem to like criticism.

An apt metaphorical use of this picture CE. I was a bit surprised at the end was Hell, but it works well. There is an ironic sense of humor to this too, your main character knowing in some way, he would get here; but now here he is, and there’s no escaping this prison. Hug CE. I have an email to write you, but I have been having a rough week. When I get sick, sometimes what I have feels worse and certain days it’s hard to write or read a great deal. Either or usually, the idc time both. But I’m going to do that todaybor tomorrow if I can. And you can fill me in on life too 🙂 More hugs my friend. I’ve missed talking to you.

I guess he should have stopped when they shouted. I’m sure he’ll settle into his new home just fine.
