right and wrong
you tell me I will soon forget
that you already can’t remember
but you are sunshine in July
I’m the east wind in November
I tell you that you’re always right
you tell me that I’m wrong
I say I want to stay with you
you say I don’t belong
you bring the music to my life
you are my favourite song
you tell me I am out of tune
when I try to sing along
you never want for company
without you I’m all alone
you stand above adoring hordes
I am soon lost in the throng
you ask me why I hang around
why don’t I just move on
perhaps there’s nothing better than
the agony prolonged
I know I never will forget
and you will not remember
you’re the Côte d’Azur in mid-July
I am Scotland in November
Click here to hear this poem put to music by my California-based friend and musician extraordinaire Kris Anderson. It is NOT what I expected, but it is sensational!
Enjoyed this very much. Loved the bluegrass it suited the poem well. Didn’t like the end though it was too jarring. Otherwise, great stuff!

Thanks, again, Amanda, glad you enjoyed.
And I disagree about the ending, I rather like Kris’s little bit of humour.

Sorry wrong comment. Yeah I don’t know I’d have to see if I got used to it listening to the song. Overall, I liked it very much 🙂

The opening stanza of this poem really pulled me in. And “you tell me I am out of tune
when I try to sing along” gave me a chuckle. Great poem, and the music added a new flavor to the piece.

Hi Mandie, glad it hooked you, thanks for kind words.
The music gives it a whole different and unexpected dimension, I agree.

I didn’t think a good old hoedown hid in that poem, but Kris found it! Wonderfully entertaining.

Glad you enjoyed, Em, it surprised me too.
That is the great thing about collaborating with creative people, they see things differently.
Phil’s drawing at the top is a case in point.
