Friday Fictioneers is hosted by the wonderful Rochelle, the undisputed master of what I call Sound Bite Fiction.
She sets the weekly challenge, and the standard.
For this week’s prompt she presents us with a photo by Roger Bulltot.
The idea, as always, is to write a story of around 100 words based on this picture, below.

Love Song
I have a tune in my head.
I know it is an old song, from the Sixties, I think.
And I know it is playing because of her.
The woman I love.
She is beautiful, the eyes, the smile, the hair.
And the legs.
Oh, those legs.
It was, for me, love at first sight.
That will never change.
But she has, I think.
She was sweet, caring, loving.
We did romantic things together, visited my homeland and hers.
But she has become more fractious.
She nags.
She drives me up the wall.
Now I remember the song.
Poison Ivy.
Ah, the dangerous loss of the heart.

It sounds like many relationships, people start like they’re the cure or the healing you need and up to be toxic,in this case like poison Ivy. Love the song it’s pretty funny too. Hugs

Nice one. He needs to give it more time and he will build his immunity. Sensitivity to poison ivy tends to decline with age 😉

Well done, CE. The march of time can be cruel in so many ways and yet it can also be beautiful, having that accumulation of memories and experiences. Yet, I guess that goes into reverse with bad habits and they can grate all too quick as our patience runs out.

It may start well, but it doesn’t always end well.

Dear CE,
Love be’s that way sometimes. No such thing as ‘happily ever after’ is there?

Women marry men hoping they’ll change. Men marry women hoping they won’t. Both are disappointed by the results.

One thing I love about your stories is that more often than not I end with a silly grin on my face, and it’s just happened again! Brilliant.

‘Look out man. she’s crazy!’ Cracking song choice C. And so true of so many love stories – how can people who feel so compitable at the beginning loathe each other so much at the end? Sad but that’s life. Wonderfully turned tale, C

A song of love indeed. 😦 But I think the itch still needs scratching, from the sound of it.

Love changes over time. For some, the only thing that keeps them together is a long shared history.
