Wizard – Sunday Photo Fiction

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly challenge presented by my old friend Al Forbes.
The idea is to write a short story (200 word max) inspired by what you see in his picture (below).
This may come as a surprise to my reader, but I spent a large part of my life in IT, and met one or two ‘wizards’ along the way.
Click on this link to enter your tale, and see what others have written.
Below is an example of what I call Sound Bite Fiction.

Wizard

I see the other parents looking at me when I go to pick up my son from school.
I usually dress down, but I have come straight from a meeting.
I am wearing a Kiton suit, which costs more than most of their cars.
I am driving the Lamborghini, which costs more than most of their houses.
As I watch the kids explode through the doorways in little bundles of shrieking hyperactive joy, I remember this is where it started, just a few years ago.
I am an IT wizard with a background in Chemical Engineering, so once I had the idea the rest was relatively straightforward.
When I took my prototype to Big Oil, they went crazy bidding for my process so they could bury it forever.
None of their analysts discovered my energy source, of course.
They don’t think the way I do.
They probably have a few scruples too, which would prevent mass production.
For my demos, I only needed to extract the life force from a handful of street kids.

    AnElephantCant be a porcupine
    A kangaroo a shark or a lizard
Or a cat or a bat
But with a big pointy hat
AnElephant can pretend that he is a wizard
