AnElephantCant believe his calendar
It is already Wednesday again
He prepares once more to fail
To write a cool tale
But he tries so he sharpens his pen
Once again it is Friday Fictioneer time.
Set in stone by statuesque Rochelle, this is a presentation of magnificent masonic fiction sculpted by writers from around the globe.
And ARockHeadedElephant.
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on this picture prompt (below).
That’s it.
The Rendezvous
He showers thoroughly, thinking about her.
Totally smitten.
He met her yesterday, quite by chance, at the Art Gallery.
Love at first sight.
No phone number, she said, smiling, but tomorrow, same time, I will be here.
She indicates the stone head.
Before I go home, far away.
He has less than an hour to get there.
He stretches impatiently for a towel.
His foot slips.
She sighs, blinking back her tears.
Her sixth sense – all her senses – tell her he is the one.
She cannot believe her instincts are so wrong.
Her heart is shattered, like his leg.
If it was meant to be, their paths will cross again. Hopelessly a romantic here.

Hi Elephant,
Finally getting to your story, and it was worth the wait. This could be the start of a fine romantic comedy. He should be on the French bathing plan, once a month, whether you need it or not. Ron

Okay. I’m going to hell. I laughed. Certainly, I should be sad about a true love. And I am. A little. Yeah, I’m going to hell, and it’s your fault for writing such a wonderful tale.

Ouch! Life is full of chances that just don’t work… it reminds me of the film ‘Sliding Doors’, a little (which also made me cry). Well done, my Ele-friend.

Freya, please don’t cry, it is just a story.
A true story, of course, but not worthy of your sweet tears.

Ah, so cruel, to be that close. Reminds me a bit of the movie Autumn Rush. This is one of those stories where the man goes and sits for years a the art gallery at the same time for years afterwards.

I was going along loving the soft anticipation of love never expecting the dénouement. Now my only hope is that like its predecessor (An Affair to Remember) these two find their way back to one another.
