Exposed – Friday Fictioneers

AnElephantCant contain himself
It is Friday Fictioneer time again
He must write a short tale
On a very small scale
He makes notes with his best fountain pen

What on earth can he find to say this week
What if he finds that he has writer’s block
That would be a pain
So to clear his poor brain
It makes sense to first go for a walk

The idea is to write a very short story based on a picture prompt (below).
That’s it.

He smiles to himself, although his heart is breaking.

How could that stupid, treacherous fool do that to the woman he loved?
The woman they both loved.

He does not know who tipped off the police, but they are everywhere.
They search the house, the barns, the outbuildings.
They know something is amiss.

The brute just stands there, pretending innocence, radiating grief.
While the third side of the triangle, her sister, dabs at her eyes with a scented handkerchief.

Time for action.
He moves the hosepipe, so that the water pours into the freshly dug ground, washing away the topsoil.

  1. Fantastic. Even without the pay-off, I loved the idea of altruistic pro bono security guards.

I like your use of ‘triangle’: in this case the eternal ‘ménage à trois’.

Very very cleverly written. The story trips along nicely revealing the clues along the way. I especially like ‘the third side of the triangle’. Brilliant.

    Glory in Gory

    AnElephantCant say he isn’t clever
To tell a mystery in one hundred words
The horse content to expose the fiends
Greedy ‘bird’ and fella won’t get all the beans
Thank goodness the prompt was not of birds

As I imagine them, the sky full of vultures
    Worse than ducks a squawking
Police, Detectives and M.E. too –
Body’ll be less a few pieces parts for you…
Lady fingers for dinner – those scavengers are stalking!

Very good! Great use of what wasn’t said. I loved the horse washing away the top soil. With any luck they will find her and he will get what he deserves. I am guessing that the sister was involved?
